I go by the name Mistah Mirk aka Mirifik or mirifik aka mirk cause people started calling me mirk...short for mirifik, so thats how that came about.I'm from El paso Texas (born n raised) Growing up on the central side and Northeast side of town I was always around people that love Hip Hop music..shit my whole family love Hip Hop music,at the age of 10 I began breakdancing(B- boying with my friends and cousins, we started a crew called (breaktricity BT)I knew right away that Breakdancing was what I wanted to do forever.So i practiced everyday til i got better and better,me and the crew would get into dance battles at local clubs when it was "teen night"(haha) and win.It was the best feeling ever,especially when I won 1st place b-boy at the age of 14 and the last two contenders being myself and my brother(Eddie/Mafi) it was a crazy battle!Even though me and my brother had been affiliated with a gang from the neighborhood,B-boying always kept us out of trouble.When I was 11 yrs old I remember me and my cousins would get in a little circle and try to bust rhymes,but i never thought that i could ever try to be a rapper,besides i was too into breakin' until one day when I was walking home from school I walked into this local card shop and the two owners were local rappers from a group called Funky Minoriteez.I started going to their shop everyday after school til closing time at night they had their recording studio in the back of the shop I would always watch them recording and I remember thinking to myself, I want to do this.One night they were freestyling and they told me to try spitting a rhyme and I was nervous but i did it and they had asked me if I wrote that rhyme i said no I just made it up,they were tripping out like damn that wqas good shit, and that's when they told me that I should keep rapping,so I did I kept freestyling more battling my cousins my brother or we would just start a cypher and rap all day.By age 15 I was writing alot of rhymes, i was writing rhymes in class instead of doing my school work.When I was 17 I bought a tape recorder and started recording anyway I can i would play a cd of instumentals on my stereo and just put the tape recorder in front of the radio and start rapping,I was like yes! I got my music on tapes now thinking i was cool and shit.In 2001 me, my cousin Loke and my brother Mafioso started a rap group called MasterMindz Klick. As the years passed I had my first daughter in 2003 another daughter in 2004, by that time I wasn't even recording all I was doing was battling different rappers all over the city and I was getting known, people would be like yo aint you that dude I saw battling at a party?I would be like yeah thats me. I was getting recognized as being a dope freestyle battle MC so people I knew started finding me more battles and I would win and It felt really good.The story is too long so to make it short I bought a computer and a recording program and I,ve been making music ever since 2008 me and my brother had a run in with the law and went away,we came back home in 2009 started recording immediately I had another daughter in 2010,I'm still doing my thing and I aint going to stop! I started my own independent label(Mobstar Muzik) I represent Imap Studios and Orale Ennertainment with the homie Orale Jae big shout out to him for helping a homie out.
